Help people recover from excessive stress in their lives, and learn how to live in balance with vibrant health and peace of mind while (and so one can) achieving even their most ambitious goals in a “performance lifestyle” they can call their own.
At some point, I gracefully pointed out “the curse” of the capable (not the book I co-wrote) but the idea behind it, and that is how easy it is to get caught up in a story about our lives that is not both real AND optimistically leaning.
He’s been talking about this for some time and I get that it’s real for him, but he has not been languaging his experience in a forward moving, and solution-oriented way that’s optimistic.
I explained further that when that’s happening, that story you’re telling reinforces your present situation and circumstances, and as we all know, what we focus on expands.
At the start it’s a mystery why things are the way they are, but eventually that story becomes your curse (going to happen no matter what you seem to do) because it begins to define you in terms of who you are and how you are performing, maybe looking or feeling (about anything for that matter) down deep, and it can keep you locked in that situation.
Now Mike’s a really smart guy, but like everyone else, when we’re tired it’s hard to think of, let alone execute on a solution, especially when you don’t know the solution and the market keeps minimizing the problem and promoting silver bullets that don’t work. He even said that “he constantly expects things to get better in the coming month, but it’s not getting better.”
For people like Mike, you perhaps and me for that matter, who have experienced the same malaise and vital exhaustion, potentially chronic fatigue and burnout at one time or another (maybe now); who, want to transform the present situation, there is only one course of action that will make things better. That is, the recognition of your life circumstances and what has to change and then making the changes, in a way that works for you.
The thing is, many of us, under the influence of our present situation and circumstances can’t see the solution, the possibility, especially when we’re feeling run down. It’s during those times that we can get easily mired in thinking that reflects the results we’ve been getting, not the possibility of what could be happening.
And that’s completely understandable, it’s normal and a common experience. One could make the argument we are naturally wired for this, especially when fatigue is in play blunting our creativity and capacity to give rise to that new possibility.
But this is where the shift needs to take place and it’s the one we want to help you make as you enter 2018 and the rest of your life. Its the transformation every resolution at the start or during a year depends on.
First, let me explain that a Performance Lifestyle, while relevant at all ages from young to old, becomes more relevant, meaningful and actionable the older you get, when:
- recovery slows,
- we feel the gravity in our lives like never before due to relentless demand on our time and energy, and
- not so far down, we feel like the youthful or energetic days are all behind us.
That can be a daunting thought and it’s why most people don’t follow through on things. They’re good starters but terrible finishers as the effects of 1-3 above go into effect and we simply don’t have the energy or the drive to finish, which is the hardest part of any endeavor.
Regeneration: The Ultimate Resolution.
The kind of transformation we are talking about is resolving your fatigue and preparing yourself for a surge of the personal power you need to create what you want in the new year.
It’s the ultimate resolution because it transforms everything. It doesn’t require you to “do” a darn thing other than making sure you don’t get caught up in all the essentials that are just pinging, and “cookie” ing, influencing, and rationalizing you to get caught up in. And if you make this transformation, you’ll be able to do everything else better.
So what is the “Regeneration” Transformation?
It’s a little contrarian, to say the least, but it’s about developing a whole new relationship with fatigue, gaining an understanding of how it’s affecting every capability you have, and knowing how to prepare for another energy surge. As well, making this your new normal; a cycle that will repeat itself for the rest of your life.
We will be talking more about the Regeneration Transformation, throughout January, as we ready PL365 training, running from February to February of this year, which will inspire you to have regular regeneration transformations.
It’s Fitting
It’s fitting that the premier lifestyle concept, Performance Lifestyle, is an idea that was born in elite athletics where human energy, health, and performance requirements are usually put to the test; but more so fitting that it was fully defined for Generation Y, X, and the Baby Boomers for that matter. It doesn’t matter if you’re into sports or even fitness enthusiast. What matters is that you are up to something, potentially ambitious, in your life.
And that is a lot of us!
There is an affinity that emerges when a peak idea becomes available to a population of people who’ve never thought that way before (at least in terms of it being a way of life) and it is transforming.
You see, today we 35 – 65 and older, relate with younger generations, we’re still strutting our stuff in the workforce, with careers and companies. We have young kids still (many of us have had kids later) like me for instance, with so much to look forward to.Also, with the explosion of awareness in human performance what was once the thinking and technology only available to those in the athletic domain; today we are realizing that we can leverage that same approach in our lives to function better for longer given we are the parents, professionals, and performers who need it most.
We want to grow older with energy, healthy and with the ability to perform well into the future. We are still on the rise at our age, and have no plans to step back.
And, while we are getting older and function does naturally decline, we do appreciate just being as much as we enjoy becoming; as we age, we have no plans to enter the slippery slope of degenerative decline like generations past who did not know better.
We now know that Regeneration is the core of life itself, it’s what makes our lives possible. And for people like Mike, me and many others who have experienced the negative effects of excess stress and who are learning how to live in balance with vibrant health and peace of mind while achieving even our most ambitious goals; this is where it starts!
