There is so much discussion about vaccines and masks, supplements and detoxes… to stay healthy, and the term lifestyle is used almost as an afterthought. Yet, to improve your lifeyour energy, health (and everything that goes with that), and your capacity to function and perform well in life; you need to improve your lifestyle.

Your lifestyle, my lifestyle, is either at the root cause of sustained immunity and strength, accomplishment and achievement (upward spiral); or, sickness, weakness, languishing, floundering, and premature death (downward spiral). And, when it comes to protection from a virus or the influences of life in general on our health for that matter, the need to improve your lifestyle is everything.

How a person has lived up to the point when they got infected by the coronavirus, meant and means everything.

One of the worst things that ever happened or more accurately, didn’t happen to us when growing up, is that we were never informed about lifestyle.

You know “this is your life, and here’s the optimal style of living your life type stuff;” a little context for how to live, and some perspective.
No, we didn’t get that, we got shiny objects (take this, consume that, eat this / not that, work out, this way, not that way, sleep is important, etc; well-meaning but often impotent solutions for when we run into the problems of living the SAD (standard American dream and the nonstop lifestyle it leads to) with a whole marketplace that is hell-bent on setting lobster traps everywhere.
Each trap gets us stuck in one expedient but impotent solution after another, leading to addiction and more health problems. And the health industry, for the most part, propagates these problems, never really resolving any of the problems unless is an emergency in nature. I love emergency medical care and like you probably, we’re grateful to have it.

Alas, we discover “it’s the economy stupid” and there are biases towards what’s creates the problem, and nobody in healthcare really wanting to solve the problem. What passes for healthcare is really disease management in our modern culture and has little to do with health promotion.

Even the so called success industry wears us out, turning us all into performance addicts.

Since you were a kid you were likely never taught to improve your lifestyle. You’ve been taught that your lifestyle is about wealth and fulfilling material and hedonistic desires. Sign in to any social platform and lifestyle is categorically about consumerism.

And look at how well that’s worked for so many.

There is nothing wrong with being wealthy, having material wants, etc, but that’s not the core definition of lifestyle, and until we change, improve and ultimately optimize our lifestyles, diseases will proliferate in a big way, amongst a population that is weak.

Time to step up the way we live!

There has never been a more unprecedented time in our lives than the present to start focusing on improving our lifestyle.

The emergence and overlap of the coronavirus pandemic with a continued global rise in chronic conditions such as constant tiredness, exhaustion, fatigue, depression (metabolic syndrome), fibromyalgia, diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease, cancer, etc. – have exacerbated the coronavirus death toll.

Such conditions are driven by unhealthy lifestyle habits like standard American diets and inadequate levels of exercise and poor sleeping habits… that in turn affect our immune system, and that’s just for starters. As mentioned above, the SAD, which used to stand for the standard American diet, is now pointing to the Standard American Dream, where we live non stop lifestyle’s that wear us down, promote poor lifestyle habits, means of coping with that stress that creates more stress and a downward spiral into sickness, weakness, languishing, floundering, and premature death.

In this context, a low-grade inflammatory process appears to play a central role in many distinct chronic non-communicable disorders. Since lifestyle is consequently at the root of these diseases, it follows that lifestyle intervention should be an integral part of our care and not just healthcare.

Adopting a healthy lifestyle on a global scale can most likely enhance our resistance to viral and other infections. However, making healthy choices around food, or saying “get more sleep.” It’s not as easy as knowing what to choose or how to do it, or even where to start.

You need to develop a lifestyle mindset and skills set that goes way beyond, sleep, eating, and exercise.
