All Change, Improvement, and Optimization is a Change to Your Lifestyle

Well, JAM, what about the COVID 19 Pandemic. That’s a change that’s out of my control and has nothing to do with a change to my lifestyle. Look closer. Yeah, it happened, and what did it ultimately change? Your lifestyle.
The pandemic forced us to adapt to both survive and relearn what it is going to take to thrive (prosper; flourish.)
Environmental change, social change, emergency situations, etc, at the end of the day, beget lifestyle changes.
So it makes sense that we start with a definition of “lifestyle” that brings this home.
Sociologically (how a person lives) speaking–Lifestyle is the interests, opinions, behaviors, and behavioral orientations of an individual, group, or culture.
The thing is none of that really points to the core elements of lifestyle, these are the higher-level descriptions.
Behind these ideas, are our beliefs, habits, and routines those are what are calling the shots, and forming the behaviors in anything from a family culture to world culture.
And guess what, beliefs, habits, and routines we can change; meaning you can change a habit and a routine with a little awareness, and even a basic understanding of behavior change such as environmental design, prompts, motivations, and abilities, go big or go home versus start tiny, build and win strategies and simple evolution.
Add that all up and you can change your lifestyle like a pro.
Why is this important to entrepreneurs, driven business professionals who often have so much going on they are barely hanging on?
It’s that you can change your situation and circumstances, you can adapt to thrive.
It’s not until change happens at this level, that things change anyway, and most of us miss it all the time. I missed it for years giving up my power to overwhelming situations that seemed out of my control when they weren’t. So many of us experience depression when we don’t feel like we can change a situation, and we give up our power with a defeatable mindset, and an undefeatable mindset is what we really need.
To that point, I don’t think there is a bigger and better idea for change, that to realize that everything you are doing in your life right now stems back to habit and a routine, from how you eat, move and sleep, to how you work, from how you think to how you relate with other people. It’s all habituated routines that are creating your world.
So rejoice, you can pretty much change anything that is within your control, and those things that are out of your control, you can change how you respond to adapt, survive, and thrive.
