The Truth About Energy and Balance

If you are reading this, you are someone who wants to recover from the excess stress of the past and achieve your goals, without burning out or trading your health for your success. You want energy and balance in your life.

Given you are likely over 35 or in the “second half” of your life,” you probably want to achieve even higher and live better than you have in the past; maybe even your most ambitious goals, while living in balance with vibrant health and peace of mind, even if you don’t know how to do that right now.

That’s what living a “performance lifestyle” is all about. That’s the big promise.

With that primary aim in sight, in this INSIGHT, I want to share with you, the basic truth and reality about energy and balance. We hear and probably read so much about these ideas; yet, so many people struggle with low energy, fatigue and overwhelm.

So let’s flush this out a bit.

These are big ideas, but here at the start of the 2nd QTR of the year; I want to add to your start, and set the pace for our communications in the coming weeks…

For starters, you need to understand that human energy is the crux of the whole human experience. It’s your life force. It’s you being alive and our body/brain needs a lot of it to function in the world in modern times.

If you aren’t adept at generating and “re”generating your energy, let’s face it; life will be a struggle and struggling with fatigue leads to a life of coping without the underlying energy you need to stay healthy and succeed at the level you want.

I learned this first hand in my own life, as I lived out of balance for a very long time. It’s what inspired me to develop the Performance Lifestyle for people up to big things in their lives, and who need extraordinary levels of energy and balance, health, and performance to fulfill on their dreams, plans, and vision.

So what’s the basic truth and reality about energy, and balance?

1. Energy:

Our society is brilliant at driving us to generate energy, through stimulants of every kind, including: motivation, goals, provocative thinking, fear, heroism, media, food, drinks, drugs, alcohol etc… the list is endless. I’ve just given you a brief cross section here.

But the reality is, we are not very good at “re” generating energy, and that is a very big oversight. So big in fact that you can consciously or unconsciously be chasing a solution your whole life, for a problem with a thousand faces, that you can’t see it or even easily explain because it manifests in so many ways.

And, to boot, there are so many (too many) impotent, some even scientific-sounding, so-called solutions out there to this problem, that don’t come even close to resolving the real causes. Let alone, the lifestyle diseases that are born of this invisible condition that starts with tiredness and exhaustion, builds into fatigue, which for some just becomes chronic, and is past off as aging.

I’m talking about depleted personal energy, whigh is why energy the crux of a Performance Lifestyle.

It’s because everything else, if you are going to function biologically well and perform well in your life, depends on both spending energy wisely and regenerating energy just as wisely with an optimized lifestyle that ensures you don’t tire out, burnout, wear out and die out prematurely.

The question I have for you hear, is do you know much about human energy?

If you don’t, for the next couple of weeks I’m going to share The Energy Blueprint with you so that you can learn about energy and prime yourself for getting into a Performance Lifestyle you can call your own that will result in the balance you want.

2. Balance:

You’ve been hearing about this for years, usually in the context of balancing your work and life; a mere one-dimensional explanation of a subject that is just so much more.

With all the talk of work/life balance, how is it that so few people really experience balance; and if they say they are, why are so many people so tired all the time and suffering the effects of fatigue?

The answers are simple, they don’t understand balance or what it means, and simply live without a rational and practical understand of how to “live in balance.” This is the the central theme of a Performance Lifestyle.

So you might be thinking, “oh, I can’t wait to hear about what this genius will tell me about balance.” Well, it’s not a small take and it’s taken me more than 20 years to have something clear to say on this subject.

Here’s the reality.

“Balance” is not about any one dimension of balance, such as work/life, or even spending and recuperating energy… both of which are powerful and useful “dimensions” of balance.

There are countless more of those dimensions and that’s why we continue to learn as human beings, becoming more aware and developing greater insight into how we maintain balance as we go through life.

But logic would have it that nobody has the exact situation or circumstances as you and probably doesn’t have the exact, vision and goals as you, or history as you either. Their life makeup is different, therefore no one definition would ever suffice, would it?

No. Balance is an experience, often subjective, and often objective, so you the person need to have the breadth and depth of skills to change your situation and circumstances from there you are, to where you want to be, incrementally to feel balanced.

Make sense so far?

Therefore, maintaining balance is having the balance of lifestyle skills you need to manage your energy, stay healthy and succeed in your chosen domain and in other areas of your life.

With me so far?

So to do that, you would need to have a working mental model that saw all the different aspects of your lifestyle and areas of your life, in context, and competency in the lifestyle skills to know what to do, when, how and why to do it, at the right level, intensity and consistency that’s right for you and what you’re up to.

Read that again.

That may sound like a lot, but the reality is, that’s what required for you to be effective at maintaining balance, which is not a goal, but a by-product of how you achieve your goals, and live your life.

Living in balance is essential to your sustained success, so don’t write it off the way so many high achieving people do who simply say, “I don’t believe in work/life balance anymore, it’s just life and then they end up working all the time, and out of balance in their life to boot.

I came to that conclusion as well at one point, going as far as saying that in life today “we work all the time and take time out for everything else.” And while there’s a lot of truth to that statement, there is so much more to it if you want a mindset and the skills set that works to keep life rich with energy, manageable, and “balanced.”
