I just got back from New Orleans where I was delivering an event called The Curse of the Capable, at a national conference called the HCEA. If you were at that presentation, welcome to the Performance Lifestyle community blog and great to meet you yesterday!
I will be uploading some pictures shortly.
We all had a good time, getting free from of some of the “bull shit”
that get’s in the way of living “the lifestyle” we want to live so that we can drop the weight of the past, live in balance with vibrant health and peace of mind and achieve even our most ambitious life goals.
It was a great time and a unique experience for these road warriors who were going from session after session on exhibition metrics and case studies and panel discussions; at our session, they got a chance to look inward and get some relief.
We also had quite a few good laughs as we stayed in tune with the “let’s get real and have fun” philosophy I ascribe to, particularly when doing events.
There is something amazing that happens when you address some of the stories floating around in the back of your head day, after day, after day that drive you to perform in ways that may be throwing your life out of balance, promoting weight gain, compromising your health and / or holding you back from achieving your goals.
I introduced The 4 phases for changing your story for greater love, health and success in our lives and ultimately, to find out what is (at least in part) driving those of us in attendance. Everyone partnered up with someone they didn’t know and shared their stories.
Your stories (your inner thoughts) are what drive you to behave (eat, think and live /work) the way you do each day of your whole life! Even if your circumstances seem like they are in command, it’s still your story that is driving you.
Here are THE 4 phases for changing your story for greater love, health and success.
- Uncover Your Story
- Discover The Consequences of Your Story
- Acknowledge the Emotional Impact of Your Story
- Recognize How You Cover Up Both the Consequences and the Emotional Impact of Your Story
Change, Your Story.
I had two objectives for those in attendance.
- To help them discover the ultimate lifestyle skill of knowing how to change a story and to get an experience doing so.
- To help them change one story affecting the lifestyle they live, and their personal energy levels.
These just happen to be two daily practices that I practice each day; after all, it’s a beautiful thing to be able to change your behavior as needed, to adjust to changing circumstances and manage your energy.
Most of the attendees participating were road warriors managing exhibitions at conventions all over the world. They are constantly on different time zones and needless to say, live in restaurants, on the road and have quite a robust social life. So, knowing how to change their lifestyle as needed and manage their energy is a very beautiful thing!
I shared in that social life last night and I am exhausted today. Thank god I know how to live a Performance Lifestyle and know just how to recover from a night I also strategically prepared for beforehand, so that the consequences would be manageable in the middle of my work week.
I’ll let you know how I feel in my next post.
