Fat Loss Resistance and Metabolic Syndrome

Print

I’m about to offer you a simple explanation to why you may be having so much difficulty losing weight even though you are eating less and exercising more than ever before.

I am talking about a state called “fat loss resistance” or in other circles a condition called “metabolic syndrome” where your body is not functioning well. Neither are the explanation of the situation themselves, but are a simple way of labeling thee symptoms which you may be suffering from steeped in a downward energy trend.

While this article is not the final word, nor complete in its explanation, the point is simply to open you up to another perspective; to a new view of a problem where the solution is within your control by changing your lifestyle.

Often defined by symptoms

Fat loss resistance and the underlying metabolic syndrome (also known as syndrome X or the dysmetabolic syndrome) that gives rise to it, are essentially caused by the downward energy trend and defined by their symptoms which are basically, but not limited to -

… fasting hyperglycemia – diabetes mellitus type 2 or impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or insulin resistance; high blood pressure; central obesity (also known as visceral, male-pattern or apple-shaped adiposity), overweight with fat deposits mainly around the waist; decreased HDL cholesterol; elevated triglycerides; hormonal or neurotransmitter imbalances, toxicity; stress and adrenal fatigue, a slow thyroid (hypothyroidism), elevated cortisol levels… a list that could go on and on.

These diagnoses, which are all real and require professional attention, will take the blame as the cause of your fat loss resistance, but none solves the real problem, and none are the causes of this overwhelmed and fatigued physiological state that is also characterized by an unresponsive body despite your attempt at trying to cajole it into action for better results.

Of course you want symptom relief, more energy and fat loss, perhaps you want to be able to perform better, but for some reason, a reason you can’t quite put your finger on (or most professionals for that matter), you remain stuck and perplexed. To date, fat loss resistance and the underlying metabolic syndrome have no known cause. The experts say, “The pathophysiology is extremely complex and has been only partially elucidated”.

Consider this post, a big step towards gaining clarity.

How ironic it is that they experts say say fat loss resistance, which is really based on metabolic syndrome, comes down to lifestyle; for example, excess caloric intake and low physical activity. Yet even if you were to eat less and exercise more, which is the mantra; you may still have the problem. Before you know it, it’s blamed on genetics and aging, which play a role but are not the primary reason why someone gets overweight and unhealthy to begin with.

As I said before the reason is, fat loss resistance or metabolic syndrome reveals the real source of the problem.

Energy Debt

Your body works on electrical current for starters. If you are experiencing fat loss resistance, the underlying metabolic syndrome starts with overspending your vital energy, the electric energy that is generated when your body has a chance to recuperate in ways including but not limited to sleep, in a supportive environment.

If your energy, the very essence of who you are and the power behind your bodies function is not recuperated, your metabolism will slow down, the same way a car’s function dissipates when it’s batteries are low, potentially to the point of being dysfunctional.

This syndrome worsens when you then “toxify” yourself with poor quality food and a lack of physical activity.

Energy debt not only affects your bodies capacity for countless functions it must perform every minute of the day, all of which are powered by this electrical energy, but your ability to build muscle and lose weight are also impaired.

To be totally energetic, to be totally healthy, to have the stuff you need to drive through your workouts, and the achievement of your goals; to supply every cell in your body with oxygen and nutrients for stamina and endurance, every cell in your body must have electrical power and this energy can only be regenerated and efficiently so, if the body is in a state of wellbeing, in a healthy environment.

Anything that messes up your ability to regenerate this vital energy is messing with you, your capacity and abilities. It requires vitality to function and perform at optimal levels. Overstress, whether that be from over work, or over consumption or over training without recuperation, not only impairs your ability to perform, it also inhibits the normal and natural function of your body.

Energy debt is the most insidious condition you can imagine because you can’t see it, you can’t diagnose it, and there isn’t anything to take for it, you can only change your lifestyle pattern to manage your energy better; to create the space and time to regenerate.

After 20 years of proactive adult living, I have yet to find another way out of energy debt, what ultimately gives rise to metabolic syndrome and fat loss resistance other than managing your vital energy better and subsequently, the quality of the food you eat and you activity levels to achieve your goals.

It comes down to your lifestyle!

When you live out of balance for long periods of time, energy debt accumulates, like the tail on a comet, and it is the primary cause of all poor lifestyle decisions, particularly in an environment that set’s you  up for failure to start with, with choices around food for instance that you shouldn’t even have make!

Nothing will prompt poor lifestyle decisions, the metabolic syndrome and the fat loss resistance that follows, more than a lack of vital energy.

  • Aging naturally plays a role, but we can’t look at aging a cause, when it’s a natural curve, and not in and of itself a source of disease.
  • Genetics certainly plays a role, but anyone “in the know” knows, with small exception, disease is the combination of genetics and environment. In other words you may be predisposed to a certain kind of disease, but only if you provide the environment and the conditions for that disease to manifest, will it manifest.

Your lifestyle on the other hand, how you manage your energy, including your food quality and activity levels throughout your life, affects your condition from day one; literally how your disposition will manifest and ultimately how you will age.

Time for change

As a lifestyle trainer and coach I am offering you a new view. You don’t need to know all the inner workings of a clock to tell time, but even if could know all the inner workings, if you don’t know how to tell time, you will be disoriented, confused and perplexed.

How do you manage your energy to stay out of energy debt that gives rise to a cascading set of lifestyle induced disease conditions that is currently and conveniently being labeled as metabolic disorder which curbs your ability to live at or near your ideal weight?

You start eating, thinking and living better, and that starts with discovering the real problem and the lifestyle solution that is either reinforcing your health your ability to perform and succeed, or not.

Sound daunting?

It’s not.

While professional support is recommended to deal with progressive symptoms, you can do something about this condition that will be exponentially more influential at the same time. You know this is true because even if you take a pill or a powder, detoxify or submit to surgery, it is always coupled with changing your lifestyle. Isn’t it?

So learn how to change your lifestyle to start.
